Stanford offers a wealth of activities and things to do for those who love the great outdoors. Whether you choose to spend a peaceful afternoon exploring the tree-lined streets of Stanford or enjoy one of the many activities on offer such as mountain biking, horse riding, birding, canoeing and cruising on the Klein River, explore Platbos Indigenous Forest, home to 1000-year-old trees, or a visit to the nearby Salmonsdam Nature Reserve with its’ magnificent hiking trails, forests and waterfalls.

Stanford is known for its traditional country hospitality, cosy coffee shops, art galleries, shops and restaurants. Other popular attractions include the Stanford Wine Route and the Klein River Cheese farm with its award-winning cheeses; from November until April the cheese farm offers picnics along the river. Last but not least is Stanford’s famous country markets held every Saturday morning in Queen Victoria Street and the Sunset Market on the last Friday of every month promising a feast not to be missed where you can enjoy old fashioned country living at its best!
