Stanford is the only one of the Cape Whale Coast towns that is situated inland. This leafy green and picturesque Victorian
influenced village which lies on the banks of the Klein River offers something special to visitors – the tranquility and
quaintness of days gone by, river boat trips, country shopping and a beautiful mountain backdrop.
The central core of Stanford is a proclaimed a heritage site. Many of its buildings date back between 100 and 300 years and
most of the village exudes a charm of yesteryear. The original market square dating back to 1785 is still undeveloped in
the centre of the village.
